For those of you who are computer savvy this post is going to be pointless. For those of you who might not know much about computers or font-rendering then this post may very well change the way you view the web, literally.I was reading Timothy’s Burden today wherein Rick wrote a post about how his site’s fonts were looking better in IE7 than in Firefox.
I was about to suggest that a possible solution may be to enable ClearType on his computer but Nathan beat me to it and then gave the process for how to enable ClearType on your own computer. Let me just say that if you don’t have ClearType enabled on your PC you’re missing so much…it’s just not even funny. Here’s the process as Nathan outlined:
Go to: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display. Then, on the Appearance tab, click Effects.
>In there, check the box labeled
>Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts
>and then choose ClearType.
If you haven’t been using a ClearType enabled PC up until this point you’ll be amazed at the difference it makes.
